Emirates Airline - Cabin Crew Salary & Benefits
Basically, your salary consists of three parts which is your basic, flying per hour pay and overseas nightstop/layover allowance. Most airlines (eg. Singapore and Malaysian Airlines) pay the overseas allowance in your local currency and bank it into your account. You have to change to the foreign currency to whichever nightstop that you have.EK (Emirates) will pay you cash instead in the local currency of that particular country. So your monthly salary defers and it depends on how many hours you are flying in that month and which nightstops you have.Certain countries have a better allowance and some lesser. For example, if I can recall correctly, station such as Paris you are being paid about 90Euros per night. Anyway, your basic and flying pay per hour (tax free) are : -
USD1 = 3.67Dhs Basic Flying Pay
Grade CC.06 : ( Pursur ) - 6,000Dhs 99Dhs
Grade CC.05: ( Senior steward/stewardess ) - 5,770Dhs 92Dhs
Grade CC.04: ( first class ) - 4,620Dhs 72Dhs
Grade CC.03: ( business ) - 4,620Dhs 65.5Dhs
Grade CC.02 : ( economy ) - 4,220Dhs 57Dhs
When you join, you start off as a Grade2 operating in the economy class section. As you fly and gain more experience, you will be promoted to the list of grades above. Promotion is generally fast as Ek is getting plenty of new aircraft each month for the next few years. The fastest I know to promote from a Grade2 to Pursur is 5 years. I think to be a pursur or IFS in SIA,you need to fly 15 years or more. If you want to bring your career to a higher level, you can actually apply as a Senior Flight Pursur, Cabin Crew Instructor or a Cabin Crew manager.
You will be provided with free accommodation, utility bills and transport. For SFS and above, you have a studio apartment for yourself while generally for the normal crew it's two to three sharing per apartment. If you opt to stay outside company provided accommodation, you will be given an accommodation allowance. The last 2008 accommodation allowance are 72000Dhs PA for Pursur, 68000 Dhs for SFS and 42700Dhs for normal crew.
Benefit wise, you will enjoy the usual perks as an airline crew such as staff and family concessional travel, 30 days of annual leave , medical coverage and comprehensive Insurance Scheme.

CAREER PROGRESSION & ROSTERING
Movement between Fleets
Emirates Airline recognizes the aspirations of its Pilots, and will endeavor to provide career progress. Moves between aircraft groups will be offered whenever possible, at the discretion of Management.
Command Upgrade
Selection for command upgrade will be on the basis of suitability and seniority, and the following minimum experience requirements:
· Total flying experience of 6,000 hours
· A minimum of 4,000 hrs (P1 or P2), on Turbo-prop or Jet aircraft, with a MTOW of at least 10,000kgs
· A minimum of three years continuous service of Emirates
Rostering
Emirates is following the policy of Preferential Bidding System for Flight Crew Rostering. Crew are allowed to bid for trips and days off, with a variety of options; e.g. number of trips, days off after the trips, avoid a trip, consecutive days off on specific dates or at the beginning/end of the month, etc.
At present each category (e.g. B777 First Officers) is divided into 5 groups: A, B, C, D and E. These groups are rotated each month. E.g. In March, Group A might be top bid group, with Group E at the bottom. In April, Group A moves to the bottom with all other groups moving up. Thus Group B would be top bid group in April.
The satisfaction rate is quite high. Assuming that bids have been entered correctly and in sufficient number to achieve the desired credits, the top 2 groups each month achieve close to a 100% satisfaction rate.
Rosters are generated strictly within GCAA Flight Duty Time rules of UAE civil aviation authority, which are very similar to those of JAR Ops.

Salaries vary depending on the type of aircraft a pilot is assigned to fly and the number of hours flown. Advancement of a pilot’s salary also depends on his length of service with the company and the fleet he belongs to. A First Officer’s basic salary starts from S$6,175 while a Captain’s starts from S$11,550.
Pilots’ Productivity Allowance
In addition to the basic salary, a pilot will receive the PPA (Pilots’ Productivity Allowance). The PPA is an hourly rate paid for every hour flown. Under the prevailing CA, the PPA comprises up to 30% of a pilot’s total income. As this part of the pilot’s salary is based on productivity, it is variable – the more a pilot flies, the more he earns. As such, in cases when flights are cancelled, if he is sent on course, or if he is on medical or annual leave, his salary will be correspondingly affected. Thus, a pilot’s salary can fluctuate – the less he flies, the lower his income.
